Last night, I made the announcement on my Facebook. We had a lot of response! The post had about 50 likes, people became interested & 14 shared the link. Among those 14, was Mary Kim Titla who is the Executive Director at UNITY! Also, Lynnann Yazzie who is the Project Coordinator for UNITY was very excited and proud!
I'm also working with the Etem-Omvlkusen UNITY Council, some of the members seemed willing to participate in the Mvskoke March 2016. We're turning this into something bigger than I expected! When I originally planned the Mvskoke March 2016, it was intended for our Mvskoke Nation Youth Council members. With the amount of support from those who weren't apart of YC wanted to join, I thought why not? This will be an intertribal event, we want people who want to create history with us! Still finalizing some things, rallies, sponsors, assistance. I do have some info to share, but I will wait until the next blog post. Don't forget to sign up forThe Mvskoke March 2016! Just go to the Participant Page and register! MVSKOKE MARCH 2016 JULY 18-21, 2016 CREATING HISTORY, HEALING OUR WOUNDS, AND WALKING IN UNITY Mvto! Jay Fife Top or Bottom logo, which one do you prefer? The logo that you select may be put on the Mvskoke March 2016 Official T-Shirt.
I know I said I would make the announcement yesterday, but I didn't get around to it. Today, at 3:00 the announcement will be made. I am meeting with Family Violence Prevention Program and MCN Lighthorse so we should get a lot completed today. I also put up the registration form on the Participants Page, so to all who wish to join the journey to OKC, please fill out the form.
My hope is to have atleast 50 walkers, many youth are interested but July is a busy month. Also adult support is incredible! While I was in Selma, some of the Longest Walk 5 walkers said they wanted to walk the Mvskoke March. FVPP also is a tremendous partner! Regardless of how many attend, 2 or 200, we will still walk to OKC. Changes made yesterday: - Instead of stoping in Harrah, we will stop in Choctaw. - We will be walking from Muscogee (Creek) Nation's Capital to the Oklahoma State Capital. - There will be a Start of Walk Rally on Monday (July 18th) at noon. - On Thursday (July 21st) also at noon, will be the End of Walk Rally on the State Capital Grounds. - More details on the rallies will be given out at a later date. Also, I am seeking 1-3 more coordinators for the Mvskoke March. One of the coordinators would serve as our Media Coordinator/Official Photographer. I am also working on getting our promo items and working on an official logo. I will post when the logo is designed and completed. Mvto for reading and don't forget to sign up for the walk! I walked with the Longest Walk 5 today in Selma, AL. We walked across the historic Pettus Bridge. I got to carry our tribal flag, it was a very empowering moment.
While walking, I began to grow in excitement for the Mvskoke March 2016. I cannot wait for everyone who joins the walk to have that feeling of empowerment. The walk serves as a health and spiritual event. June 1st, I will make the announcement official via social media. I will post the link to this website. This is where every thing will be posted. Please use the hashtag #MVSKOKE2016 when posting content regarding the Mvskoke March 2016. Jay Fife cvhocefkv tos. Hotvkvlke towis, Oce Vpofv vm cuko rakko. Mowen Mvskoke March 2016 Senhomahtv towis.
This is the beginning of the website for Mvskoke March 2016. It is intended for providing information about the Mvskoke March 2016, Mvskoke Nation Youth Council, and Domestic Violence. There are many more things that need to be worked out, but I will use this as a digital journal to document progress! |
